Why Marsupial Mum, you ask?
The link is somewhat tenuous now.
The top treatment option when I was initially diagnosed was marsupialisation. That just means allowing the body to shrink the tumour itself by keeping the wound open in my mouth and protecting it from infection with a special pouch. Unfortunately, the tumour turned out to be a more serious ameloblastoma. This treatment option necessarily fell by the wayside in favour of resection of the best part of my lower left jaw bone and surrounds.
Nevertheless, marsupials carry their baby in their pouch and so do I. I love it and she loves it. We rarely use our stroller. It cramps style our holding hands and bopping in the street. I hope Alannah will not be too big for the baby bjorn by the time we can do that once again.
